La Mer doesn't even bother to claim to do anything other than moisturize. They know people buy their product purely for the sense of prestige. No plain moisturizer is worth the price of la mer. You should probably spend your money on something with a useful active ingredient, such as AHA or BHA. If you just want regular lotion, than choose something with a luxurious scent and texture.
